We get so many out of towners visiting us — not just from all over the UK but lately from Oslo, Copenhagen, New York and even the Basque Country. And almost everyone asks the same thing:
“Where should we go for drinks while we’re here?”
So I’ve pulled together my favourite spots around Leeds — the places I go back to again and again. They all care about what they pour, the atmosphere they create and the people behind the bar. Whether you’re starting your evening before dinner at Emba or winding down afterwards, these are the gems you’ll want to know about.

A little underground haven that takes cocktails seriously but never takes itself too seriously.
A gorgeous cosy pub with loads of charm and a better than most array of beers and wines.
The oldest pub in Leeds and still one of the best. Down a little alley off the main shopping street Whitelock’s is a slice of history
I’m crazy about the cosy vibes here — candlelight, bare wood and those little booths and nooks you can properly settle into.
